1917 MOVIE | By Esteban

‎ ‎ ‎1917 is a war movie that was based on true events which took place during World War 1. This movie is mainly about the British and the Germans soldiers. Award-winning director Sam Mendes said that, “it was based on these stories my grandfather told me and one of them just wouldn't let me go, and …this war has always… affected me since he told me these stories…I wanted to go back in and tell the story of two men who could have been two amongst two million other men.” The film follows two British Lance-Corporals–enlisted people in the British Marine Corps, ranking above private first class and below corporal–across one turbulent day in April 1917, as the pair race against time to deliver an important message to stop 1,600 fellow Tommies of the Devonshire Regiment from walking into a deadly trap.

‎ ‎ ‎The filmmaker’s grandfather, Alfred Mendes, was a Trinidadian and Tobagonian of Portuguese descent who served with the British Army during World War I. In the end, this movie about a defining year of the war was a sensational hit and made about $390 million dollars worldwide. The film’s earnings held the record back in 2019-2020, when it was released.

‎ ‎ ‎To conclude, 1917 is a movie that I recommend to all those interested in history, action, and drama–which in my opinion is the mix of very good genres. If I were you, I would go home as soon as possible; but you must watch the movie with a parent.
