History of Thanksgiving︱History
By Brandon

The first ever Thanksgiving was in 1621 located in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This was celebrated to individual colonies and states. In 1863, in the middle of Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November. That made controversy with the new holiday and many Americans including Native Americans or ancestry of Native American believe that Thanksgiving is something that blocks the true history of bad, and sad reality of the relationship between European settlers and Native Americans. Some historians think that the Thanksgiving celebration in 1621 in Massachusetts was not the first one because 56 years early that is 1565, Spanish fleet came ashore to Florida.
